The 35th OSAC Annual Briefing

The OSAC Annual Briefing is one of the most celebrated events on the international security community’s calendar. Bringing together security professionals from the U.S. Department of State and American private sector, the day-and-a-half-long conference features prominent speakers, a variety of networking opportunities, and presents a distinct space for information sharing among peers. The Annual Briefing is a forum to discuss best practices on emerging issues, and to collectively review lessons learned from recent global events. The unique opportunity to hear from authoritative voices and to strengthen ties with fellow security leaders across the public-private partnership provides attendees with access to information that empowers them to make educated decisions on how to keep their organizations safe abroad.

For the past 34 years, OSAC has held its flagship Annual Briefing each November over two days in Washington, D.C., drawing more than 1,200 attendees. This year, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OSAC has made the difficult, but prudent, decision to cancel the in-person Annual Briefing. Instead, we will host a virtual conference spanning the week of November 16.

We are aware that the Annual Briefing is a banner event and an important connection point for the international security community. We did not make this decision lightly and only after reviewing several options, during which we assessed Washington, D.C.’s opening protocols. We believe this is the most responsible decision. Regrettably, by November, we are unsure if we will have moved beyond the city’s Phase 3 guidance, which prohibits more than 250 people from gathering at an event.

Although we know this may be disappointing for those of you who look forward to this event every year, we promise a well-planned, content-rich, and meaningful virtual 35th Annual Briefing experience. We will host expert keynote speakers and in-depth panel discussions on critical security topics, share regional analytical reports, and offer networking opportunities for more personalized discussions through breakout sessions.

We ask for your patience as we develop the content and agenda for this year’s virtual Annual Briefing. We will post details, information, and updates on this page at regular intervals for your planning purposes. This will include registration links, as well as scheduling and speaker information. As always, the event will be free of charge for all OSAC members.

Thank you for your commitment and dedication.
