OSAC
Bureau of Diplomatic Security
U.S. Department of State
Any U.S.-owned or incorporated organization with operations outside the U.S. may join OSAC. This includes non-profits, academic institutions, faith-based organizations, and other companies of any size. Once the organization is approved, its employees may also join OSAC, using their work email to register.
All OSAC membership, products, events, and other services are always completely free.
Log in to your OSAC account and go to the Country Chapter* or Common Interest Committee page. Click on the arrow next to your desired group to view a description. Click the Apply button (this button will only appear when you are logged in). Once you have applied you will receive a confirmation email. If approved, you'll now be able to access the group from this page.
*Although generally only available to Full Access members, some Country Chapters may admit Limited Access members on a case-by-case basis. This decision is at the discretion of the Regional Security Officer.
If you have additional questions about any OSAC membership groups please contact the OSAC Programs team at OSACPrograms@state.gov.
Click the User icon in the upper right of any page on OSAC.gov and select "Magange Profile." Here you can update your name, title, phone number and other information. You cannot change your email address because that is part of the verification process for OSAC membership (you must currently be employed by an OSAC-registered organization and be using that work email address to log in).
If you have changed jobs and now work at a different OSAC-approved organization, or if you are at the same OSAC-approved organization but your work email address has changed, contact us at OSACadmin@state.gov and we can assist with updating your account.
If you now work at a non-OSAC-approved organization but believe that organization meets our requirements, you will need to submit an organization approval request. If that organization is approved, we can then help you transfer your account.
See more information here and contact OSACadmin@state.gov with any questions.
OSAC Branding, Social Media, & Website Policy
The OSAC.gov website and OSAC social media pages (LinkedIn and X) are Department-authorized and affiliated. No additional independent websites nor social media accounts using the OSAC name and brand may be used without authorization from the OSAC Program Office– this policy applies to all OSAC members and membership groups, including OSAC Country Chapters and Common Interest Committees.
It is prohibited to use the OSAC brand (logo, name, and bio) related to any event or product that did not originate from OSAC. This includes in-person and online events, websites, social media accounts, and physical products. If you believe you have officially collaborated with OSAC on a product, such as a benchmarking report, and you want to apply the OSAC logo, you must first obtain the express permission of the OSAC Program Office before doing so. No other branding nor claim of ownership of OSAC products or events is permitted. This policy applies to all everyone, including OSAC members and OSAC Country Chapter and Common Interest Committee leadership.
We encourage all active OSAC members and member organizations to display their OSAC membership status both on their websites and social media. An external sharing kit is available for that use here.
If you're an active OSAC member and want to display your affiliation on LinkedIn, follow the steps below to add OSAC to your "Licenses or Certification" section of your profile:
OSAC welcomes link shares to all OSAC.gov content. OSAC content that does not require a password may be downloaded and shared as long as OSAC is credited as the originator and no edits are made to the product's original format. Do not create co-branded content without OSAC Program Office authorization - see FAQ "Can I use OSAC's brand?" OSAC password-protected products should not be downloaded and embedded in any non-OSAC site nor otherwise shared without the express permission of the OSAC Program Office.
