Demonstration Alert: Italy, Multiple Demonstrations Planned Countrywide This Weekend, February 21-23

Location:  Multiple locations in Italy

Event:

From Friday, February 21 – Sunday, February 23, several demonstrations are scheduled in multiple cities in the vicinity of U.S. diplomatic facilities throughout Italy.

Rome

·       On Friday, February 21, a demonstration is scheduled to occur in the vicinity of the U.S. Embassy in Rome, on the corner between Via Bissolati and Via di San Basilio. The event is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.

·       On Sunday, February 23, a demonstration is scheduled to occur in the vicinity of the U.S. Embassy in Rome, on the corner between Via Bissolati and Via di San Basilio. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.

Florence

·       On Friday, February 21, a demonstration is scheduled to occur in the vicinity of the U.S. Consulate General in Florence. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m., departing from Piazza Indipendenza and ending in front of the U.S. Consulate General in Florence.

Milan

·       On Friday, February 21, a demonstration is scheduled to occur in the vicinity of the U.S. Consulate General in Milan, in Piazza Stati Uniti d’America directly in front of the Consulate. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.

U.S. diplomatic facilities will remain open but may adjust operating hours.  Please contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate for updated information.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid the area and exercise caution on the date of the demonstration.
  • Utilize good situational awareness, maintain control of personal belongings, and attempt to leave any affected areas immediately.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
