Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Rome, Italy – October 14, 2021
Location: Various locations throughout Rome.
Event(s): Multiple demonstrations, see below. Additional anti-Vaccination and anti-Green Pass demonstrations, are likely to continue throughout the month of October in Rome. NOTE: In addition to the demonstrations listed below, Italian police anticipate protests in the lead up to and during the upcoming Rome G20 Leader’s Summit on October 30th and 31st.
Location 1: Fiumicino Airport – Terminal T3
Event 1: On Friday, October 15, all day, a demonstration of Alitalia workers is planned. 1,000 participants are expected.
Location 2: Piazza del Popolo
Event 2: On Friday, October 15, from 2pm to 8pm, an electoral campaign closure event for Candidate for Mayor of Rome – Gualtieri (PD) is planned. 5,000 participants are expected.
Location 3: Piazza Campo de’ Fiori
Event 3: On Friday, October 15, an electoral campaign closure event for Candidate for Mayor of Rome – Michetti (FdI) is planned. 2,500 participants are expected.
Location 4: Piazza Bocca della Verità
Event 4: On Friday, October 15, from 2pm to 8pm, a No Green Pass movement demonstration is expected to take place. 2,000 participants are expected.
Location 5: Piazza San Giovanni
Event 5: On Saturday, October 16, from 2pm to 8pm, a national demonstration regarding the attack on the CGIL last Saturday, October 9 is expected to take place. 50,000 participants are expected.
Actions to Take:
· Avoid the areas of protests.
· Monitor local media for updates.
· Exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gathering or protest.
