Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Harare (October 17, 2025)
: Local political figures have called for protests on October 17, 2025, in Africa Unity Square in Harare’s Central Business District (CBD). Despite calls for peaceful protests, clashes between protesters and security forces are possible.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are likely to establish increased police presence and checkpoints around the CBD and on major roads entering and exiting Harare.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid the Central Business District (CBD) and other areas where protesters or large groups may gather.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
