Health Alert: Zambia, Government Announces Two COVID-19 Cases and Travel Limitations

Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Lusaka, Zambia (March 18, 2020)

Event:  On March 18, 2020, the Zambian Minister of Health confirmed two cases of COVID-19 in Zambia.   


Travelers should be prepared that options for travel are becoming more limited U.S. citizens who are considering returning to the United States are urged to work with their airlines to make travel arrangements while flights are still available. Many travelers in Zambia seeking to travel to the United States have reported unexpected flight cancellations and rapidly diminishing flight availability.  If your travel has been disrupted, please contact your airline.   


Effective March 18, U.S. Embassy Lusaka has suspended routine visa services, but is still providing routine American Citizen Services until further notice.  For American Citizens Services, including emergency passports, please visit our website for additional information.
