Weather Alert: Muscat (Oman), Possible Heavy Cyclone Rains and Wind

Location: Southern Oman; possible heavy rains and wind.

Event: Tropical Cyclone Luban continues to strengthen as it moves westward toward the coastal areas of Dhofar governorate and Yemen.  The storm is still not expected to make landfall in Oman, but heavy rain and strong winds are expected to affect Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates beginning October 13.  The Port of Salalah has temporarily suspended operations in anticipation of rough seas and strong winds.

Actions to Take:

• Avoid travel to affected areas until the storm has dissipated.
• Monitor the local news for updates. 
• Visit the Joint Typhoon Warning Center and Tropical Storm Risk (TSR) websites for updated storm tracking information.
