At approximately 7:30 am on Monday, September 28 an unidentified assailant tossed two improvised incendiary devices on to embassy grounds. One of the incendiary devices exploded. Immediately following the explosion the embassy went on lockdown. No one was injured in the blast. The embassy is no longer on lockdown and is open for business. At this time there is no specific threat information against Americans and/or American interests. Visitors to the U.S. Embassy will notice an increased security presence as a result of this event. An investigation on the event is underway and the U.S. Embassy is cooperating with local authorities.
