- Today, May 1, 2024, large organized demonstrations are expected throughout Türkiye to celebrate Labor Day. In Istanbul and elsewhere, they are anticipated in areas frequented by tourists, including downtown areas. Large gatherings may result in enhanced police presence, road closures, and traffic disruptions. Any gathering, even those intended to be peaceful, could escalate and turn violent.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid areas around protests, demonstrations, and other large gatherings.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
- Keep a low profile.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Monitor local media for updates.
