Event: Due to an anticipated General Strike, the Department of State informs American Citizens in Tunisia to expect delays and disruptions to public services, especially public transportation, on Thursday, June 16. The Department of State reminds American Citizens in Tunisia to be cautious, maintain a high level of vigilance, and take appropriate steps to enhance their personal security. 

Actions to take:  

  •  Monitor local media for updates 
  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Keep a low profile. 
  • Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists/Westerners. 
  • Review your personal security plans. 
  • Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency. 
  • Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter.
