The Government of Timor-Leste (GOTL) renewed a nationwide COVID-19-premised State of Emergency (SOE) through 23:59 on October 29. The SOE directs individuals to utilize preventative measures, including social distancing, the wearing of face masks, and hand washing. It also stipulates that in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak in the country, individuals residing in Timor-Leste will be subject to COVID-19 testing or to present certification of full vaccination. Additional Timor-Leste-specific COVID-19 information can be found at the U.S. Embassy’s COVID-19 webpage.
Information about the current SOE, including exceptions, is also available at the Government of Timor-Leste’s official website.
U.S. citizens are cautioned that the GoTL may impose criminal penalties for non-compliance to its announced directives. U.S. citizens are advised to monitor local news and resources for potential travel restrictions.
