Bern, Switzerland – Bundesplatz (Federal Palace)

 

 

Event: 

The U.S. Embassy in Bern informs U.S. citizens that there is a demonstration planned on Monday, May 1, 2023, 2.00pm to 4.00pm at the Bundesplatz (Federal Palace). At 4.30pm, approximately 2,000 protestors are scheduled to march through the Old Town to Kramgasse, returning to the Bundesplatz.  Gatherings and demonstrations are expected around Bern all afternoon and evening, and throughout Switzerland.

 

 

Actions to Take:

- If in the area of the incident seek secure shelter

- Avoid the area(s) of the incident

- Follow the instructions of local authorities at all times

- Keep a low profile

- Avoid crowds and demonstrations

- Always carry a cell phone as a means of communication

- Contact concerned family members in the U.S. to advise them of your safety

- Monitor local media for information about specific demonstrations
