Security Alert and Nationwide Curfew: Juba (South Sudan), Jan 17

Event: U.S. Embassy Juba has received reports of sporadic gunfire and violent protests in multiple districts of Juba and outlying areas. The Inspector General of Police announced a nationwide 6:00 p.m. curfew on Friday, January 17.

Actions to take:

Monitor local media for updates.
Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
Notify friends and family of your safety.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Review your personal security plans and keep your cell phone charged in case of emergencies.
