Weather Alert: Heavy Rains and Flooding
Location: Republic of Korea
The Embassy is closely monitoring reports of heavy rain and flooding throughout the Republic of Korea. Flood and extreme weather warnings have been issued in multiple areas throughout the country. Some areas are experiencing very heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds, thunder, and lightning. Current conditions are expected to continue over the next several days.
Heavy rains have resulted in flooding, local evacuations, and blocked or closed transportation routes in affected areas. Additional flooding could occur elsewhere due to heavy rain nationwide.
ACTIONS TO TAKE:
U.S. citizens in Korea are encouraged to monitor local news media and follow guidance of government officials and local authorities. Updates from the Korean Meteorological Administration can be found online. Stay away from flooded areas and secure outdoor belongings that may be affected by winds or flood.
Ensure your information is up to date with STEP and advise any U.S. citizens that DID NOT receive this message to do the same.
