Demonstration Alert: Slovakia, Nationwide Protests Anticipated on February 7

Location: Freedom Square, Bratislava, other locations around Slovakia

 

Time: Friday, February 7, 5.00 PM in Bratislava; other locations listed below.

 

Event: Nationwide demonstrations are expected on Friday, February 7 under the banner "Slovakia is Europe."  Organized by the “Peace Ukraine” group. These demonstrations will take place in multiple cities across the country, with tens of thousands expected to participate.  Counter protests may occur in various locations.  U.S. Citizens are advised to exercise caution if traveling in the area and plan accordingly. The main event will occur in Bratislava at Freedom Square at 1700, alongside additional demonstrations planned in:

 Protests organized by political parties will take place in: Galanta, Šaľa, Trenčín, Prešov, Skalica, Rožňava, Trebišov, Piešťany, Zlaté Moravce.

 

Actions to Take:

  • Be cautious of your surroundings and practice situational awareness at all times;
  • Stay aware of spontaneous counter-protests;
  • If altercations or violence occurs, remove yourself and any family/group members from the area immediately to a safe location (police officer, known public area, etc.);
  • Set a predetermined time and location to meet with friends and family should you become separated.
