Health Alert: Sierra Leone, Government Implements Measures to Limit Spread of COVID-19

There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Sierra Leone.

The government of Sierra Leone has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.  Sporting events, festivals, and gatherings larger than 100 people have been banned.  Visit the local government COVID-19 website, Ministry of Health and Sanitation for updated information.

Freetown International Airport will close on March 22 until further notice to all commercial flights.  Quarantine measures have been implemented to reduce the spread of COVID-19.  Travelers should be aware of current travel restrictions entering and exiting Sierra Leone, which may change with little or no advance notice.

Effective March 23, U.S. Embassy Freetown will suspend routine consular services.  For emergency American Citizen Services, including emergency passports, please visit our website for additional information.

The Department of State has issued a Global Level 3 Health Advisory for COVID-19.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 2 Global COVID-19 Outbreak Notice.
