Message for U.S. Citizens: Possible Protests Throughout Senegal Saturday, February 3 (Update)

Alert: UPDATE 1: Protests Confirmed in Dakar

Protests have been confirmed in Dakar on the VDN near the Catholic cemetery, Saint Lazarre. Tear gas has been deployed to disperse the crowd. Traffic is closed on the VDN at this time.

Actions to take:

Monitor local media for updates.
Avoid crowds.
Avoid demonstrations.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
