Alert: Calls for Protests June 3

JUNE 3, 2023

U.S. citizens should expect unscheduled, sporadic protests throughout Senegal to continue on Saturday, June 3rd.

Protests and clashes with police over the past few days have resulted in deaths and arrests.

U.S. citizens are strongly urged to avoid any areas where such events are ongoing. If the Embassy receives more information regarding demonstrations we will send updated alerts.

Actions to take:

Monitor local media for updates.
Avoid crowds.
Avoid demonstrations.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
