U.S. Embassy Dakar has received reports of a march today from 11:00 to 14:30 between Rond-point SIPRES to Rond Point Liberte 6. The embassy is also aware of political gatherings planned for tomorrow, March 2, in Grand Yoff; on Wednesday, March 6, in Terrain ACAPES, Parcelles Assainies; and on Saturday, March 9, location to be determined. Demonstrations or other political gatherings could also occur in other regions of Dakar or around the country.
Demonstrations in any location or hour can quickly turn confrontational and escalate into violence, so U.S. citizens are reminded to remain vigilant. If the Embassy receives more specific information regarding dates and times of demonstrations, marches, or gatherings, we will send updated alerts. U.S. citizens are urged to avoid any areas where such events are ongoing.

- Avoid crowds.
- Avoid demonstrations.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
