Event: Independence Day Strikes and Protests (July 24-29, 2025)
Multiple organizations have announced plans to hold strikes or demonstrations around the Peruvian Independence Day weekend in multiple locations around Lima between July 24 and 29, 2025. These demonstrations are planned mainly in Lima and may occur in key locations such as Plaza Dos de Mayo, Plaza San Martín, Paseo de los Héroes Navales, and routes toward the Congress of the Republic. Expect heavy traffic conditions and a heightened security presence. Demonstrations may also occur in other cities around the country. Transport strikes on July 24-25 and July 27-28, 2025 may disrupt transportation activities, with possible participation by cab drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, collective transporters, and informal buses.
Actions to take:
· Avoid the crowds and demonstrations.
· Do not interfere with or attempt to circumvent roadblocks.
· Follow instructions from the Peruvian National Police, Peruvian Armed Forces, and local authorities.
· Monitor local media for updates.
