Event: Lifting of Restrictions on U.S. Diplomatic Personnel Movements in Lahore
The U.S. Consulate General in Lahore lifted its shelter-in-place directive for U.S. diplomatic personnel based in Lahore at 20:00 on May 9, 2025.
U.S. citizens should remain vigilant. If U.S. citizens find themselves in an area of active conflict, they should leave if they can do so safely. If it is not safe to leave, they should shelter-in-place. The U.S. Consulate in Lahore and other U.S. diplomatic facilities in Pakistan may adjust their posture as security conditions continue to evolve.
The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan will send updates as needed through our messaging system. Please ensure that you are enrolled in Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) .
Actions for U.S. Citizens to Take
- Have evacuation plans that do not rely on U.S. government assistance.
- Have travel documents up to date and easily accessible.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Carry proper identification and cooperate with authorities.
