Please be informed that as of July 6, 2021, the Public Enterprise "National Forests" in North Macedonia has prohibited visits to forests between 06:00 a.m. and 08:00 p.m. due to the increased danger of forest fires resulting from rising temperatures. This applies to nearly all forest areas in country, including the hiking trails in and around Vodno, Matka, and Skopska Crna Gora. Requests for permission may be submitted by individuals and groups through the National Forests Branch Office responsible for the specific area of activity. Failure to register is subject to monetary fines between 1,500 and 2,000 euros.
Hiking and other outdoor activities in forests is allowed only with written permission from the subsidiaries of “National Forests.” This prohibition will be in force until the risk of forest fires is reduced.
The ban on movement and outdoor activities in forests and forest land managed by “National Forests" applies to the entire territory of North Macedonia.
