Demonstration Alert: U.S. Embassy Kathmandu, Nepal – Situation Update, September 9, 2025

Due to escalating political unrest and violent demonstrations, all U.S. citizens are strongly advised to shelter in place until further notice. Avoid all travel unless absolutely necessary in an emergency.

Reports indicate that Tribhuvan International Airport and Pokhara International Airport have suspended flights indefinitely. For assistance, contact the U.S. Embassy at +977-01-423-4000 or KathmanduACS@state.gov.
