Demonstration Alert: Kathmandu (Nepal), Curfew order issued by Chief District Officer

Location: Kathmandu, Nepal.

Event:  Curfew order issued by Chief District Officer

According to section 6A of the Local Administration Act, 2028, from 16:25 hrs on March 28, 2025 to 22:00 hrs on March 28, 2025, a curfew order has been issued within the boundaries of the following four locations in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City of Kathmandu District, prohibiting any kind of gathering, procession, demonstration, assembly, meeting, and picketing.

There are inconsistent reports on whether some flights at Tribhuvan airport are impacted.  This is a rapidly changing situation.  Please confirm flight plans.  Sporadic instances of property damage, arson, and clashes with police including some violence are reported in the affected areas.

Areas affected:

a) Baneshwar-Tinkune Area:-

  • From Gaushala to Airport, Gairidhara, Tinkune to Koteshwar,
  • From Koteshwar to Jadibuti bridge,
  • From Koteshwar to Balkumari Bridge,
  • From Baneshwar Chowk to Shankhamul Bridge,
  • From Gaushala Chowk through Old Baneshwar to New Baneshwar Chowk.
