Event: The U.S. Embassy Rangoon received reports that the Thandwe Airport, serving the Ngapali Beach areas, is closed due to armed conflict nearby.
U.S. citizens in Myanmar are reminded to:
- Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists or where there are large gatherings.
- Keep informed of closures, such as major roads and airports, in your area in the event you need to travel immediately.
- Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive information and alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency overseas.
- Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter and visit travel.state.gov.
