Location: The southern provinces of Mozambique, including Maputo, Gaza, Manica, Inhambane, and Tete Provinces.
Event: The National Meteorological Institute (INAM) of Mozambique has issued an alert warning that the southern provinces of the country are expected to experience heavy rainfall exceeding 50–100 millimeters within 24-hour periods accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. These weather patterns are expected to last several more days.
Actions to Take:
- Prepare emergency supplies for sheltering at home without electricity or water for at least three days. See additional guidance here.
- Make contingency plans to leave areas affected by flooding and/or prolonged water and electrical power disruptions.
- Have travel documents up to date and easily accessible.
