Montenegrin authorities report several wildfires near Budva and to the north and east of Podgorica. Avoid traveling to fire-affected areas and monitor local conditions, especially if travelling between cities in Montenegro.
Hot and dry conditions are forecasted this weekend in many parts of Montenegro. U.S. citizens are urged to check fire conditions regularly via local news and ensure they and their families are aware of evacuation routes in case of an emergency.

- Montenegro is currently experiencing wildfires that may disrupt traffic routes outside urban areas. Before traveling long distances, including to the coast, monitor local news for updates on wildfire conditions and plan your routes accordingly. Google Maps may also provide real-time information on road closures and wildfire activity.
- Wildfires are common in Montenegro and typically remain outside urban areas, but there is a risk they could spread to more populated areas. Smoke inhalation poses a serious health risk, even if you are not near the flames. If a wildfire is near your location, including your residence, evacuate immediately to an unaffected area.
- Do not attempt to drive through areas that are affected by wildfires or heavy smoke. Seek an alternate route or consider delaying travel if an alternate route is not available. If you have no other choice but to drive through smoke from a wildfire, drive slowly with the windows up, outside air vents closed, and headlights on for increased visibility.
