Demonstration Alert – Bamako, Mali – April 8, 2025
Location: Embassy of Algeria in Bamako, Mali
Event: A demonstration of approximately 400 people began around 1500 at the Embassy of Algeria. While the protest has been peaceful so far, U.S. citizens should avoid the impacted area. Ongoing protest activity could also impact travel patters around the impacted area.
American citizens are advised to:
• Avoid the areas of demonstrations
• Do not attempt to drive through protests or roadblocks
• Continue to exercise vigilance while in Mali
• Exercise caution if in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests
• Review your personal security plans
• Keep a low profile
• Be aware of your surroundings
• Keep some form of communication with you
• Monitor local media for updates
