Location: Near U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur at the Menara See Hoy Chan building, 374, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.
Event: A demonstration is scheduled on Friday, May 16, at 2:00 p.m. near the front of the U.S. Embassy, in front of the Menara See Hoy Chan building. U.S. citizens should monitor local media for updates. Currently, the U.S. Embassy does not anticipate an interruption to routine services, though traffic near the Embassy will likely be disrupted, and a police presence is expected.
Beginning at 12:00 p.m. on May 16, 2025, the U.S. Embassy front entrance will be closed to all pedestrian traffic until the completion of the demonstration.
There is no indication at this time that this demonstration will become violent, but the U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens that the nature of protests can change quickly and with little warning. Please remember that it is illegal for non-Malaysians to participate in demonstrations in Malaysia.
