Subject: Planned Demonstration near KL City Center – August 9, 2025
Location: Vicinity of the National Mosque, Central Market, and Merdeka Square – located west of KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.
Event: A large demonstration is scheduled to start on Saturday, August 9, at 4:00 p.m., with groups expecting to gather at Masjid India, Masjid Jamek LRT area, the National Mosque, and Central Market. Participants are expected to march from these locations and converge at Merdeka Square around 5:00 p.m.
We advise all to avoid these areas between 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. as traffic will likely be disrupted from road closures, and a large police presence is expected. The Embassy also advises individuals to avoid using the Masjid Jamek and Pasar Seni Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations during this time.
