Demonstration Alert September 6, 2023
On Thursday, September 7th, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is scheduled to convene a large rally at Tubman Stadium. The rally is anticipated to draw significant crowds that will gridlock traffic throughout greater Monrovia. The Embassy anticipates large crowds and impacts to vehicular traffic because of motorcade movements, road closures, and security cordons. Heavier than normal vehicular traffic caused by significant crowds will directly impact the free flow of movement in an out of the Mamba Point, central Monrovia, and Sinkor neighborhoods.
Actions to Take:
Avoid the areas surrounding the rally. Even peaceful events may turn violent.
· Avoid large crowds.
· Be aware of your surroundings.
· Monitor local media for updates.
· Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings.
· Keep a low profile.
