Security Alert: Monrovia (Liberia), December 17

Event: The US Embassy Monrovia is alerting U.S. Citizens that police are deploying tear gas and water cannons at the Capitol Building to disperse protestors. Traffic is hindered on Camp Johnson Road and Tubman Blvd. It is advisable to avoid the Capitol Hill area until further notice.

Actions to Take:

Avoid Capitol Hill area.
Monitor local media for updates.
Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
Keep a low profile.
Prepare for delays in travel and have funds to cover these delays.
