Demonstration Alert: Monrovia (Liberia), Possible Protest at Capitol Building December 21

Security Alert – U.S. Embassy Monrovia, Liberia (20 December 2022)

Event: The U.S. Embassy has received reports of a possible protest on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022 at the Capitol Building in Monrovia. Any mass gathering of persons in the immediate vicinity of the Capitol Building may impact traffic along Camp Johnson Rd, Haile Selassie Ave, and Tubman Blvd.

Actions to Take:

Avoid the areas surrounding the demonstration locations. Even peaceful demonstrations may turn violent.
Avoid large crowds.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Monitor local media for updates.
Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
Keep a low profile.
