The government of the Lao PDR has reported that it detected harmful chemicals in certain alcoholic drinks. The government therefore has issued an order prohibiting the sale and consumption of Tiger Vodka and Tiger Whiskey due to the government’s concern that these products could pose a serious safety risk.
Actions to take:
U.S. citizens should avoid the consumption of these products due to serious safety concerns.
Symptoms of methanol exposure can include:
- drowsiness,
- a reduced level of consciousness
- headache and dizziness
- the inability to coordinate muscle movement
- nausea
- vomiting
- heart and respiratory failure
If consumption of methanol is suspected, please seek immediate medical care.
