Event: On November 29, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a large explosion near the town of Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo severely damaged a portion of the viaduct canal bringing water from Lake Gazivoda in the north of Kosovo down to the power plants near Pristina, where the water is used in cooling operations. The channel also carries drinking water to some towns in northern Kosovo, including Mitrovica. The attack forced authorities to temporarily stop transporting water through the channel. Kosovan authorities have worked to return temporary functionality to the channel and water has now resumed flowing to the power plants. Kosovan authorities have stated publicly that they do not anticipate disruptions to the electrical supply and that they expect to soon resolve outstanding issues of water supply in affected areas.
