Demonstration Alert for U.S. Citizens
Posts on social media are calling for a “National Day of Remembrance to Demand Justice” for those killed during the 2024 protests. They have announced countrywide marches in all 47 counties starting at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 25, in addition to vigils and gatherings in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) on June 24 and 25. Demonstrations may also take place throughout next week with little advance notice.
Actions to Take:
· Avoid crowds and the Central Business District of Nairobi.
· Monitor local media for updates.
· Keep doors locked and windows rolled up while in a vehicle.
· Notify friends and family of your whereabouts and safety.
· Review your personal security plans.
· Carry a copy of your U.S. passport with current Kenyan visa.
