Security Alert: Jordan, School Exam Results and Celebratory Gunfire Expected August 18

Event: The Jordanian Ministry of Education will release the results of the summer high school exam (the Tawjihi) tomorrow, August 18.  As part of the celebrations expect congested traffic, more aggressive drivers, and celebratory gunfire.  The results of the Tawjihi exams are often published with little or no warning.  Last year the results were published in the early morning.

U.S. government personnel are advised to exercise caution and to take cover and move away from the area if they observe gunfire.

Avoid public gatherings and festivities

Be aware of your surroundings

Review your personal security plan

Contact the police by dialing 911 if you are in immediate danger
