Event: Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica on October 28 as one of the strongest tropical cyclones this season. Authorities continue to survey the extensive damage across the island. U.S. citizens are advised to remain cautious.
Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport and Ian Fleming International Airport in Ocho Rios opened for commercial operations today. The Montego Bay Airport reopening plan is in development by the Government of Jamaica and remains a top priority.
We have received reports of individuals who have traveled overland from Montego Bay to Kingston using private transportation. Individuals should exercise caution if they choose to travel.
The U.S. Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica will resume normal ACS and visa operations on Monday, November 3. Applicants should attend their appointments as originally scheduled.
