Demonstration Alert: Surabaya (Indonesia), Demonstration Scheduled on March 24

Location: U.S. Consulate General Surabaya

Event: There is a demonstration scheduled on Monday, March 24^th at 2pm. The event will take place in the downtown area of Surabaya, at the Grahadi Building, Jl. Gubernur Suryo, Surabaya. Hundreds to thousands of protestors are expected, comprised of university students and other members of the public.

Actions to Take:

• Avoid areas around protests and demonstrations.
• Avoid crowds.
• Keep a low profile.
• Be aware of your surroundings.
• Monitor local media for updates.
• Become familiar with alternate routes to common destinations and plan to avoid traffic disruptions.
• Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists.
• Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program   (STEP   ) to receive information and alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency overseas.
