Event: The National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police, in consultation with local Chiefs of Police, declared a state of emergency due to weather forecast. The Civil Protection warning is in effect will remain in effect until the weather clears tomorrow, Thursday, February 6. The weather will affect all parts of Iceland today and tomorrow. People are advised to stay home or seek shelter and follow updates on the weather forecast at the Icelandic Met Office's webpage, http://www.en.vedur.is.
High winds and precipitation could cause major disruptions and have a major impact on services, infrastructure, and land and air transport.
