Location: France
Event: On Thursday, September 18, 2025, strikes and protests are taking place across France. Authorities expect a very large turnout, with between 600,000 and 900,000 participants across France, including between 50,000 and 100,000 in Paris. Public transport is significantly impacted, especially in the Paris metro area, and some schools are closed. Drivers may be impacted by road blockages, and there may be disruptions of other means of transportation – including flights, trains, and taxi services. Pharmacies and other health services, including hospital support, may also be impacted.
The possibility of violent clashes between protestors and French security and law enforcement remains high.
All U.S. Mission France facilities are currently open.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid the areas of the demonstrations.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
- Monitor schedules with local and national transportation providers.
- Monitor local media for updates.
