Location: Fiji
Event: The Fiji Meteorological Service has advised that a tropical disturbance is approaching Fiji. The storm, which is expected to strengthen to become a tropical cyclone later this week, will bring strong winds and heavy rain to affected areas. As a precaution, U.S. Government personnel on Fiji’s outer islands are being relocated to Fiji’s main islands in advance of the storm.
Actions to take:
- Monitor local media for updated weather forecasts. Be aware that forecast storm paths can change.
- Follow directions of local officials.
- Avoid flooded areas. Do not attempt to drive or walk across flooded roads.
