Actions to Take

Seek secure shelter.

Prepare for severe weather by ensuring an adequate supply of bottled water, non-perishable food items, medications, and vital documents.

Monitor the local news for updates.

Avoid travel to low-lying areas until the storms have dissipated and flood waters have receded.  If you are travelling, be cautious of inclement weather reducing visibility and making roads slick.  Be cautious of swollen streams, washed out roads, bridges and other infrastructure, and have an alternate plan if such obstacles prevent you from reaching your destination.  Fording flooded areas on foot or in a vehicle should be avoided if at all possible.
