Security Alert: Eswatini, General Strike on November 15

The U.S. Embassy is aware of calls for a general strike in Eswatini on November 15, 2022.  Out of an abundance of caution, embassy employees will be on maximum telework posture on the 15th, and the embassy has recommended that students of embassy personnel home school for the day.  The embassy will be open but offering limited services.  If assistance is needed that day please call +268 2417 - 9448.

Actions to take: Avoid all protests, even peaceful ones, as they always have the potential to rapidly turn violent with little or no notice.  Security services may implement additional measures to limit protestors mobility throughout the country or use force to disperse even peaceful protests. If assistance is needed that day please call +268 2417 - 9448.
