Health Alert: Equatorial Guinea, COVID-19 Vaccine No Longer Required for Travel

Location: Equatorial Guinea

Event: On March 24, the Government of Equatorial Guinea announced that negative COVID PCR test results and proof of a COVID-19 vaccine will no longer be required for traveling to or within Equatorial Guinea.

This means that international travelers arriving to the country will no longer be required to undergo a PCR test within 48 hours of arrival.  Similarly, individuals traveling between Bioko Island and the mainland (i.e. Malabo and Bata) will no longer have to be tested.

PCR tests are still required upon departure from Equatorial Guinea if a negative test is required to enter the destination country.  In such cases, the traveler must obtain a certificate from the Ministry of Health, which costs 110,000 CFA (around $183 USD) for foreigners.

Travelers must make a payment at a local bank for the certificate, bring their receipt to the testing site to pick up their results, and then take the results to the Ministry of Health to collect the certificate. (Travelers can ask their hotel for assistance).

The U.S. Embassy in Malabo will continue to provide updated information on COVID-related travel guidelines here.
