  • Weather Alert – U.S. Embassy San Salvador, El Salvador (October 7, 2025)Location: El Salvador

    Event: The Civil Protection Agency in El Salvador has updated its alerts at the national level due to severe weather conditions.  Civil Protection has issued an orange alert (conditions exist for the likely development of dangerous weather) in the coastal strip, including 13 municipalities. The remainder of the country has been placed on a yellow alert (dangerous trends) due to a low-pressure system around the Pacific Ocean.  There is a high probability of urban flooding, landslides, overflowing of rivers, falling trees and rocks.

    Actions to Take:

    ·       Track local updates from El Salvador’s Civil Protection and Ministry of Environment: X page: @PROCIVILSV and @MedioAmbienteSV. https://www.proteccioncivil.gob.sv  and https://www.ambiente.gob.sv/ 

    ·       Monitor the local news for updates.

    ·       During a flood, seek secure shelter.

    ·       Do not attempt to drive across water standing on a road no matter how shallow it seems.

    ·       Prepare an emergency supply kit (ready.gov ).
