Demonstration Alert: Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), Demonstration underway near U.S. Embassy on April 24

Demonstration Alert:  U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (April 24, 2025) 

 

Location: Santo Domingo 

 

Event: A demonstration is currently taking place on Avenida 27 de Febrero from the intersection with Maximo Gomez to the intersection of Avenida Delgado and Avenida Mexico in Santo Domingo. The march is expected to be peaceful but is reportedly creating roadblocks. 

We advise U.S. citizens to avoid areas around rallies and demonstrations whenever possible and exercise caution when in the vicinity of any large gatherings as even peaceful demonstrations have the potential to turn violent without any warning. 

 

Actions to Take

·        Avoid crowds and demonstrations. 

·         Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.  

·        Comply with local regulations. 

·        Carry proper identification, including a U.S. passport.  

·        Monitor local media for updates. 

·        Plan alternative routes.
