U.S. Embassy employees, their family members, and U.S. citizens are advised to avoid two demonstrations occurring in early October. If you find yourself in the vicinity of a demonstration, please use good judgment, be aware of your surroundings, and exercise caution.
Though both events are expected to remain peaceful, there is a risk of potential counter-demonstrators appearing and for conflict to occur. Czech Police will maintain a visible presence to deter physical conflict between opposing groups.
Location: Náměstí Míru (Peace Square) followed by a march to Náměstí Republiky (Republic Square)
Date: Saturday, October 5 from 1400-1800 hours
This demonstration is being organized by Prague4Palestine Youth to mark the one-year anniversary of the beginning of the conflict in Gaza. An estimated 1000-1500 participants are expected.
Location: Staroměstské námesti (Old Town Square)
Date: Monday, October 7 from 1000-2000 hours
This rally is being organized by the Federation of Jewish Communities to mark the one-year anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attack against Israel. An estimated 500 participants are expected.
