Health Alert: Slovenia, Travelers from Croatia Required to Self-Quarantine for Two Weeks

Cashing U.S. checks

  • Please note that if you receive federal benefits checks from the United States, or received an Economic Impact Payment (“Stimulus”) check from the IRS:  The Embassy recently learned that after this month, Slovenian banks will no longer cash U.S. checks.  For federal benefits, you should consider having the funds deposited in your count electronically.  If you continue to hold a U.S. bank account, many banks allow you to deposit checks using a mobile device (taking a picture of the check).  Finally, for the IRS Economic Impact Payment, many tax payers have received a debit card instead of a check.  This card functions like a credit card and there is no currency conversion fee when using the card overseas.  For questions, please see the IRS Coronavirus page.

Entry / Exit Requirements

  • Croatia: After this weekend, anyone traveling back to Slovenia from Croatia will need to self-quarantine for two weeks.

Services in Slovenia

  • The Slovenian government announced that both primary and secondary school will reopen as normal September 1.
