Safety Alert: Update on Red Alert for the Poás Volcano

The Costa Rican National Emergency Commission (CNE) has issued a RED alert for the Poás Volcano National Park, and the park is closed. U.S. citizens traveling or living near the Poás volcano are strongly encouraged to monitor local media for current volcanic activity.
As of April 24, the alert levels in other areas around the volcano are as follows: ORANGE alert for the areas of Grecia and Sarchi and YELLOW alert for Alajuela, Poás, Naranjo, Rio Cuarto, and Zarcero. U.S. citizens are encouraged to monitor the below websites for the latest updates on alert levels.
Both international airports in San Jose and Liberia are operating normally.
